Back StoryOrifiel was not always the fearsome-looking woman, known to the humans of the lower valley as 'Oren.' Orifiel was created as one of the principle Weavers, being charged with creating beautiful worlds to delight the Creator: existence itself. She, like her Hewn, represented all that a harmonious existence could offer: order, structure, tranquility, comfort, and calm. Imagine her dismay when she was sent from the Realm of Weaving, to partner with the void's own representative: Seth'rion the Time Breaker.
The dark Weaver provided chaos to her order, and the pair, understandably, didn't see eye to eye at first. Over time, and a lot of compromising from both parties, the pair began to see one another's opposing views with more affection than avarice.
When the humans were finally created, Orifiel's curiosity compelled her to take on a mortal disguise and see for herself the second children of the Creator (Weavers being the first.) Though she found some of their habits brutish and primitive, she found there extreme ability to feel emotion paled her own. Her favorite of these emotions, and possibly the most foreign to her being: romantic love.
Orifiel, for the first time in her existence, felt longing. She turned to her partner Seth'rion and confessed her feelings only to find that he had experienced something similar. While she found romantic love to be the best humanity could offer the cosmos, Seth'rion delighted in the love of parent and child. He relished the unknowns, the chaos a child could throw their ill-prepared parents into and the utter joy, not terror the human parents seemed to feel. It was in those confessions, the pair made a pact.
In exchange for a romantic bond, Orifiel agreed to break one of the cardinal rules dictated to her by her Hewn: Weavers could not make living creations with free hearts and minds like humans. She and Seth'rion combined their energies to create twins, whose actions would forever impact the humans they came in contact with.
When the other Weavers heard of their actions and suffered the resulting consequences of Orifiel's folly, the principle Weaver of Joys, Bellil, took it upon herself to bring just punishment to the pair. She and her creations, the Goldfey, descended upon their cavernous, under-mountain home. When Seth'rion heard of their invasion into their sanctum, he urged Orifiel to flee.
Orifiel is not clear on how it happened, as the memories had been lost in her 1000-year sleep. When next she awoke, broken and unable to stabilize her fractured, celestial body, she pulled the energy of fear and anger that she had met from the confused human miners who greedily tried to raze the crystal she was trapped in. Taking the freely-given fear and anger, she was able to weave a new form and new identity as Ren's chosen: Oren.
